Welcome to the website of the Department of Empirical School Research with a focus on quantitative methods.

Our department belongs to the Department of Educational and Social Sciences and has been headed by Prof. Dr. Johannes König since 01.02.2011.

The subject of our research and teaching is a variety of educational science issues that relate to teaching and learning in schools and classrooms, which we address empirically with the help of quantitative methods.

Research on teacher education and the teaching profession is a particular focus of our work, which we also place in the context of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Empirical Research on Teachers and Teaching (IZeF).

On these pages you can find out which research projects we are conducting and which people belong to our field of work. In addition, you will find information on our teaching programme, which includes courses on school and teaching-related topics as well as courses on empirical methodology.
